Something Big is Brewing....
I just got wind of a potential deal that could happen in the next 24-36 hours. I don't believe that Ottawa is firing anyone, at least thats not what I have heard, however I have been told that there could be a 3 or 4 way deal that is in the making.....
Im not sure yet who would be coming here, however have been told that some names that could be moved are:
PHILLIPS or MESZAROS - I really hope it would be Phillips
SCHAEFFER - Murray is really unhappy with his lack of effort
VERMETTE - I would rather keep him, but if you get a guy that can make your TEAM better, then I would pull the trigger.
Everything depends on the impact of the trade, but I do believe it's happening, SOON....more when I hear it

I have no problem with getting rid of Phillips or Schaefer. I wouldn't trade Meszaros...and Vermette would be tough to deal, depending on the return.
If we're adding Horcoff and Svatos as the rumours are suggesting, then dealing Phillips, Schaefer and Vermette would be fine with me. Not MESZAROS!
Thanks SI! I hope Schaeffer is moved.
Ive heard from my sources that Schaefer is being a big downer in the room and his mood has been sour right from the beginning of the season...
I have heard that the boys are circling the wagons in the locker room. It's hard for anyone to find out what's going on. But it sure shows on the ice that it can't be good.
Everyone has heard different things...I have a few sources who are actually IN the organization who are really having trouble fiding anything out these days...everything has a tight lid...but I have heard now from NUMEROUS people either involved or linked to the Sens that this team will experience a SHAKE-UP....I personally think that is what they need....the talent is there, now they need the fire
I have a hard time believing that Vermette or Meszaros would be traded. Young guys like these do not come around too often. Meszaros is 20 years old and he is playing 20+ minutes a game. If they trade the young guys, they better get something really, really good.
Once again, I hate to be repeating myself but, as I mentioned in the sensnetwork board, if they would have kept Chara, Philips would have been sacrificed for draft picks. Muckler has really messed up and I'm scared that he may do further damage that will set this team back a few years.
With Phillips set to be a UFA after this year, I don't see how we could get anything of value for him. I think we should be trying to re-sign him, as he is a trooper come playoff time.
I think his time may be up in Ottawa.
any news on trades?
No, after a big win like that I think the trade talk will calm down. I can tell you that if they lost, there would have been immediate firing of Murray and a trade within 24hours.
Now we will see if they can roll with this. To me, this was a HUGE win....WINS OF THIS MAGNITUDE CAN CHANGE A SEASON...we will see what this team has in them...
they are going to call everythign off because of one win?
You've got to be kidding me SI...one big win and trade talk goes away? This team is 7-10-1 and underachieving...2-6-1 in their last 9 games...the Sens desperately need a 2nd line centre and should continue to pursue one, otherwise we will possibly see some more extended losing streaks this season. It's better to trade when winning rather then when you're losing.
typical sens managment... thats why were in this position in the first place one win and there like "oh thank god... now we dont have to improve anything...were good!"
Im not saying nothing is going to change....but I HIGHLY DOUBT that any management for any team would make a move after a BIG WIN....if they flop after the next two....then you will see something....but wins like that can help a team and its confidence.....
Another reason they have waited to pull the trigger on a deal, is they want to see how the team would play in front of Emery, someone who right now they believe in....
If Emery is going to be the #1, then I think Melnyk and Co. will have to bite the bullet with Gerber's contract and send him to the minors. As long as he is in the minors his salary will not count against the cap. Having a 3.7 million backup is crazy. At least in the minors he will not be a distraction. Melnyk can chalk it up as a contract that went bad.
If 3 million came off the cap it would help the Sens find a couple of quality players at the deadline.
im not sure if its just as easy as sending him to the minors and its over with... im pretty sure if hes signed to a contract as a designated team playre, then regardless of where he is it counts against the cap.
also, who would be the back up?
You are full of B.S. Melnyk JUST had a conference call for the media. Says everyone is SAFE and never were in danger. Go back to your rock....
Melnyk is saying this to show the unity of the team and to put confidence into the players.....peoples jobs are always at stake when they don't produce....what is he going to say " Yes, they all would lose there jobs if they didn't win".....I like the move as it will help the team and there image of an ORGANIZATION....what I heard and reported is a fact, spite what some say....If they continue to lose, there will be changes, that is the case in any sport....whether it is the coach or Gm or players...if they don't win, HE WON'T CLEAN HOUSE, but make changes...if anyone can;t see that, then they are very nieve....personally though, I like this move from Melnyk....very unusual but it will help
Keep up the good work Insider! If you don't like what the Insider has to say then just do us all a favour and go to a different site.
If anyone believes what Melnyk was saying yesterday that everyone is safe, then I have some swamp land for sale. This is pro sports and nobody is safe and if they play a couple more stinkers this weekend then heads should roll!!
its not that I think your full of shit but the way this post started is that basically a trade was all but announced.. then we get one win and suddenly muckler picks up the phone and says "the trade is off" thats how its coming across and thats why people are calling you out. I do enjoy reading the rumors though, so you have my support. peace.
There are still trade(s) in the works....and also changes that COULD be made...all I am saying, especially after that Buffalo game is that, they are not going to change anything after beating the best team in the NHL, in there own rink, coming back in the 3rd period....they may if they post some bad games following that....but if they had lost vs. Buffalo, it is almost a guarantee that something would have happened that would of shaken things up overnight......I still hear and believe that it will...I'm not sure when, or whether it will be a player or not, but something has to happen....like Brodeur said in his interview, this team is too good to be in a funk like this, so when something changes and it works out, they will be that much better...I never said that after the win vs. Buf that there wasn't going to be any move...just not right away.....something will most likely happen unless they go on some big streak...stay posted, I will continue to report what I hear....if you don't like reading my blog, then don't - and stop leaving negative comments, I do this because I am a fan who loves to talk hockey and share some knowledge I have from the inside.
Some of us do appreciate your insight and I for one will continue to read your blog!
I will and Thank-You.
whos in net tommorow SI
Emery looks great out there and the team is playing really well infront of him. With that said, how often is the more expensive Gerber going to play? I hope he doesn't play that often.
They are going to ride Emery as long as possible. I'm sure you will see Gerber from time to time but they need him to get his confidence back. I think Emery will be in net until he has a bad game or gets really tired....but they have given him the ball and I hope he rolls with it. He deserves it.
Team 1200 reported today that Muckler will retire at years end. This doesn't really come as news to me but IMO I think that was the plan as soon as Muckler hired Murray, knowing that he would step down and Murray would become the new GM. If that's the case I'm sure the rest of the managemnet structure had to be in the know as well. Can you shed any light on this? And yes Emery does deserv the ball right now. He earned last spring!
I remember you reported that mucks was going to step down.. any idea who the new coach will be.. I hear pat burns is lookin for work again
Five-way deal involving Sens, Flyers, Habs, Kings and Leafs in the works. This is HUGE!!! Nice to see Mucklar finally pulling the trigger on this. You heard it here first!
